The Helena Advertising and Promotion (A&P) Commission and Arkansas Delta Arts Partnership (ADAP) invite local and visitor shutterbugs alike to submit their best shots of the area with the launch of their “Delta Dreams: Loving Helena & Phillips County” 2014 photo contest. Photos can highlight area attractions, the natural scenery, festival scenes and more. The winning photographs will be published as postcards to showcase the community and will be displayed at the Phillips County Courthouse.

Photos must be submitted digitally by uploading them to the Helena, Arkansas Flickr Group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/helenaar/) and naming the file by title and photographer’s name (Sunrise in Helena by John Doe). By submitting an image, entrants grant permission to the Helena A&P Commission and ADAP to edit and publish the image as a postcard. For more information about contest details, please visit www.VisitHelenaAR.com or www.ArkansasDeltaArtsPartnership.org.

“People both locally, and from all over the country, have a strong love for Helena and Phillips County. We want to see what draws individuals to visit and to stay. Is it the Mississippi River? Is it the people?” says A&P Director Julia Malinowski. “We want to see photographs that tell our shared story.”

“We have a lot of talent among the photography community in Phillips County, so we’re looking forward to seeing the creativity of the entries,” says Paulette Parker, president of ADAP.

Nicholas Leopoulos, Assistant Director of the Thea Foundation, will serve as juror for the contest. Information about the foundation can be found at www.theafoundation.org. Four winners will be chosen: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention. The winners will be revealed at a reception at the Phillips County Courthouse on Thursday, March 20th, which will also serve to celebrate the beginning of Spring.
