Called Interstate Grocery, the pop-up concept will feature modern Southern cuisine inspired by the traditional flavors and ingredients of the Mississippi Delta region. Chefs Shane Henderson and Jason Godwin developed the menu for the event in partnership with the Helena Advertising & Promotion Commission and Main Street Helena, and in coordination with the theme for this year’s Arkansas Heritage Month: Come to the Table. Four Roses Bourbon is cosponsoring the event, with Chris Ferri, bar manager at Southward Fare & Libations, designing two signature bourbon drinks to pair with the four course prix fixe meal.

“With Interstate Grocery, we’re paying homage to the rich cultural heritage of Helena and the region, while also working to create new and exciting dining experiences for the area” said Helena A&P Commission Chair Cathy Cunningham.

Henderson is currently the Chef Executive Chef at Ben E. Keith, but is most known for partnering with Jody Hardin to open Argenta Market in North Little Rock. Godwin is currently the Executive Chef for Eurest at Acxiom, but is best known for opening Dogtown Coffee and Cookery in North Little Rock.

The restaurant will open for dinner at 6:00pm with five seatings currently scheduled. Tickets for the event were made available for purchase beginning on April 1st, and cost $30 per person. Initial tickets sold out within two weeks, more than a month before the event. As such, the chefs have decided to open a sixth seating at 9:00pm. Tickets for this final seating will be announced via the Helena A&P Commission’s Facebook page (facebook.com/VisitHelenaAR) in the coming week.

“The initial response to the pop-up was beyond our expectations” said Julia Malinowski, Director of the Helena A&P Commission. “We’ve already started having conversations with chefs in the region about launching a pop-up series that would hopefully begin in August. Our area is hungry for more diverse dining experiences.”
